Our Specialism: The Arts

Pittville is an Arts College. The Arts are at the centre of our school and local community. Pittville students traditionally excel in the creative arts and performance. It is a vehicle through which our students are motivated, enthused to attend, behave well and achieve their potential within the climate of mutual respect. Many KS4 students opt to become arts prefects, helping with primary school or community events and thereby experiencing their first taste of leadership or responsibility.

The specialism has already impacted significantly on whole school attainment and the ethos/culture of the school. Many departments have adopted the teaching methodology used in the creative arts which involve teachers using imaginative approaches, making learning more interesting, exciting and effective.

Through the arts college, the students have opportunities to take part in performances, concerts, exhibitions and workshops covering all aspects of the Arts. We often have professional artists working in school and we also offer a wide variety of trips to the theatre, art galleries and other arts venues. The school regularly participates in the Cheltenham Literature and Jazz Festivals.
