Children’s author and activist Onjali Q Rauf visited Pittville school on Friday, 20th September and gave the most inspirational speech about two of the major challenges, humanity faces today- the Refugee crisis and the Global climate crisis. She influenced the 230 young people to make a difference even a small one because soon enough it will make a massive impact in our society, celebrating the Global Climate Strive Day, initiated by Greta Thunberg, who says: “You are never too small to make a difference!” Onjali Q Rauf’s first book The Boy at the Back of the Class won several book awards and is a child's perspective on the refugee crisis, highlighting the importance of friendship and kindness in a world that doesn't always make sense. Onjali is the founder of the NGO Making Herstory, women's rights organisation tackling the abuse and trafficking of women and girls in the UK and beyond. Onjali was impressed by our school's ethos of welcoming Refugees.
