In the summer term of Year 10 all students take part in a work experience placement. This helps students learn about the world of work, develop their personal skills and make decisions about future career choices.
For the academic Year 2022 – 2023 work experience takes place from 18th - 20th July.
Students are responsible for finding their own placements which MUST take place in Gloucestershire. This is to enable us to have Health and Safety checks completed before the placement.
The process
Students have an introductory assembly at the end of Year 9. Parents receive information and the paperwork we need completing.
Student have from the end of Year 9 until Easter of Year 10 to find a work experience placement and get the necessary paperwork completed and returned to school. The deadline this year is 31st March 2023
Risk assessments are completed and parents notified if any placements cannot go ahead. Students and parents received written confirmation of teir placements.
Students receive briefings and information on how to prepare for their placements and what is expected of them during the placements. Students receive a booklet to complete while they are on placement.
After the placement, students have time to reflect on what they have learned and how this will support their post-16 choices in Year 11.
Support Available
Students can ask their tutors and our careers advisor for support. We also keep a database of past placements and post up to date information on the Year 10 Careers Information TEAM so it is important students check TEAMS and their emails regularly.
